Based on the Orton-Gillingham reading approach, this multisensory "code-centric program" provides direct, systematic lessons that teach students how to read/write/speak (and understand) assorted words, phrases, sentences, and stories all on their own. Explode The Code Book 5-1/2 features 10 lessons (and an additional Review Lesson and Post Test) that teach and reinforce concepts from Book 5 that include: sounds/word ending -ed, word families (including all-alk, old-olt-oll, ild-ind), the digraph qu, and 3-letter blends (thr-, shr-, scr, str-, spr-, spl-). Through a variety of pen-to-paper exercises, students will get to practice blending sounds to read and write multisyllabic words.
